Exciting results from Rubh’ an Dùnain study

Archaeologists believe Rubh’ an Dùnain contains one of the most exciting Scottish marine discoveries of recent times and are bidding for official backing to conduct more in-depth research on the peninsula.

Historic Scotland this autumn received a report on the results of a week-long survey which it funded in May 2009 examining the area and its mysterious stone-lined canal, now known to have been built before 1200AD.

The scientists are working on a theory that the area may have been a medieval boat-building centre.
